Dealing with Imposter Syndrome as an Engineering Leader
First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge that:
Feeling insecure about our capabilities is a natural phenomenon, especially when we are new to a role.
It can be challenging to objectively determine what we know versus what we should know.
Imposter syndrome is a feeling, not a fact.
To deal with imposter syndrome, we can:
Understand our role and establish clear expectations and success criteria.
Reflect frequently on our achievements and failures.
Seek out more feedback from others.
Adopt a growth mindset and prioritize growth over status.
Be open to vulnerability and learn from others.
